俗 薄

大 道 廢, 有 仁 義. 智 慧 出, 有 大 偽. 六 親 不 和, 有 孝 慈. 國 家 昏 亂, 有 忠 臣.

1. Đại Đạo phế, hữu nhân nghĩa.
Trí tuệ xuất, hữu đại ngụy.
2. Lục thân bất hòa, hữu hiếu từ.
3. Quốc gia hôn loạn, hữu trung thần.

1. Đại đạo mất mới có nhân nghĩa,
Trí tuệ sinh mới có dối trá lớn.
2. Lục thân bất hòa, nên có kẻ thảo người lành.
3. Quốc gia rối loạn mới có trung thần.

Đạo cả hết, đạo huyền đồng hết,
Mới lan tràn học thuyết nghĩa nhân.
Trí sinh, trá ngụy sinh dần,

Hiếu từ sinh trong đám cháu con.
Quốc gia gặp lúc ám hôn,
Trung thần xuất hiện, giang sơn ly loàn.

When the great Way perishes
There is humaneness and rightness.
When intelligence is manifest
There is great deception.
When the six relationships are not in harmony
There is filial piety and compassion.
When the country is in chaos
Loyal ministers appear.

THE DECAY OF ETHICS
When the way of the Tao is forgotten, kindness and ethics need to be taught; men learn to pretend to be wise and good.
All too often in the lives of men, filial piety and devotion arise only after conflict and strife, just as loyal ministers all too often appear, when the people are suppressed.
