辨 德
Hán văn:
知 人 者 智, 自 知 者 明. 勝 人 者 有 力, 自 勝 者 強. 知 足 者 富, 強 行 者 有 志. 不 失 其 所 者 久. 死 而 不 亡 者 壽.

1. Tri nhân giả trí, tự tri giả minh. Thắng nhân giả hữu lực, tự thắng giả cường. Tri túc giả phú, cường hành giả hữu chí.
2. Bất thất kỳ sở giả cửu. Tử nhi bất vong giả thọ.
Dịch xuôi:
1. Biết người là khôn. Biết mình là sáng. Thắng người là kẻ có sức; tự thắng là kẻ mạnh. Biết «tri túc» là giàu; cố gắng là người có chí.
2. Không đánh mất điểm tựa sẽ vững bền. Chết mà không hết, thế là thọ.
Biết người là kẻ trí cao,
Biết mình ấy kẻ anh hào quang minh.
Thắng người khác đã đành rằng khỏe
Tự thắng mình xiết kể hùng cường.
Biết túc mãn ấy giàu sang,
Cố công gắng sức, bền gan ấy người.
Muốn trường cửu chớ rời chỗ tựa,
Chết vẫn còn là thọ muôn đời.

Those who know others are wise.
Those who know themselves are enlightened.
Those who overcome others require force.
Those who overcome themselves need strength.
Those who are content are wealthy.
Those who persevere have will power.
Those who do not lose their center endure.

WITHOUT FORCE: WITHOUT PERISHING
Knowledge frequently results from knowing others, but the man who is awakened, has seen the uncarved block.
Others might be mastered by force, but to master one's self requires the Tao.
He who has many material things, may be described as rich, but he who knows he has enough, and is at one with the Tao, might have enough of material things, and have self-being as well.
Will-power may bring perseverance; but to have tranquility is to endure, being protected for all his days.
He whose ideas remain in the world, is present for all time.
